LinkOracle

Privacy policy

Last updated:

This policy explains how Mayfern Labs handles personal information in connection with LinkOracle. It applies to your account, saved content and use of the website and the Link Oracle Android and iOS apps.

Information we collect

We process account information, including your email address, account identifier, profile details you provide and sign-in records. We also store the content and preferences associated with your library, including saved URLs, titles, notes, images, collections, favorites and archive settings. Library search terms are sent to our backend to return matching links.

Technical and security records may include your IP address, approximate city and country derived from that address for sign-in security, browser and device information, request times, errors and account activity. Clerk processes your login credentials to authenticate you. If you contact us, we receive the information you include in your message.

How we use information

We use account and library information to provide the service you request. We use technical records to maintain reliability, investigate problems, prevent abuse and protect accounts. Contact information is used to respond to your requests and communicate about your account. We may also process information to meet legal obligations.

Where data protection law requires a lawful basis, we rely on performance of our agreement with you to provide your account and library, our legitimate interests in maintaining a secure and reliable service, and compliance with legal obligations. Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Google sign-in

If you sign in with Google, we receive the basic profile and email information needed to identify your account. We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive or other private Google content. Google handles your information under its privacy policy.

Who can receive information

Authorized personnel and service providers may process information where needed for account authentication, data storage, website hosting, security, diagnostics and support. We do not sell your personal information or use your library for advertising.

Collections you choose to share make collection names and saved link URLs, titles, types and images available to anyone with the sharing link, without signing in. Notes, favorites and archive settings are excluded from shared views. Recipients may retain copies after you stop sharing. When a signed-in user opens a shared collection, we remember it in their Shared with me list with the collection owner’s display name. They can remove it from that list or save individual links as private copies in their own library.

If you report a shared collection, we store the reported collection, account identifiers, reason and any details you provide so authorized personnel can review it. Reports are removed after 90 days or when an associated account is deleted. Block preferences remain until you unblock the account or either account is deleted. Blocking hides that account's shared collections from you.

External websites and image hosts may receive requests relating to saved URLs or displayed images. Opening an external link is subject to that website's privacy practices. We may disclose information where required by law or necessary to protect legal rights and prevent fraud or abuse.

Information may be processed outside your country. Contact us for information about processing locations and any safeguards applicable to international transfers.

Mobile devices and sharing links

The mobile apps store sign-in credentials using the device's secure storage. Unsent link drafts and incoming-share receipts are stored securely on the device until you save or discard them or sign out. Appearance and accessibility preferences are stored locally. Sharing a URL to Link Oracle sends that URL, and any title you provide, to your account when you choose Save. We do not read your device's contacts, photo library, location or full browser history. Pasting reads clipboard content only when you choose the paste action.

We use Clerk for authentication, Convex for account-library storage and processing, Vercel for website and notification hosting, and PostHog for sanitized server diagnostics. The apps contain no advertising SDK and do not request advertising tracking permission. Saved URLs and remote preview-image requests can reveal the chosen URL and network address to external website or image providers.

Cookies and local storage

Cookies and similar storage keep you signed in, support account security and remember preferences such as your chosen theme. Local storage also contains limited request-timing records. LinkOracle does not use advertising cookies or behavioral tracking analytics.

Retention and deletion

We retain account and library information for as long as needed to provide your account, unless you remove content or request deletion. Technical and support records are retained according to their security, troubleshooting and legal purpose. Copies may remain in backups or records after removal where needed for recovery, security or legal obligations.

You can delete saved links from your library and start permanent account deletion through Settings → Delete account in the mobile apps or our account deletion page. Deletion removes the Clerk account and the associated library in Convex. Sharing stops when the deletion request is accepted. Requests are retried automatically after temporary service failures. A minimal account-identifier and deletion-status record is retained for 30 days to reject old access tokens and recover failed requests, then removed.

If you cannot sign in, contact us from your account email address to request deletion. We may verify ownership. Provider backups and security or support records may retain copies for their recovery, abuse-prevention or legal purposes; these are not active library records.

Your rights

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may request access to, correction or deletion of your personal information, restriction of processing, or a portable copy of your information. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact us to exercise these rights.

You may also complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office.

Security

We use access controls and other safeguards to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee complete security.
